Harvest Season | Fraser Valley Acreage Life

Harvest Season | Fraser Valley Acreage Life

I know—it isn’t easy to put away the open toe shoes, give up the bare legs and arms and all that sun– but harvest season is pretty amazing on the lower mainland.

We love dressing in comfy sweaters and wearing layers. I love the boots and scarves– and I LOVE the food.

Autumn is one of the most beautiful, colorful times of year on the West Coast. We are blessed with gorgeous trees and a bountiful harvest season.

Sumptuous Harvest

Harvest season is celebrated around the world. It is the ideal time of year to get outdoors into the fresh, crisp, cool, autumn air and enjoy the company of family, friends, and the community.

Pumpkins

There are an abundance of Fraser Valley farms where you can pick your own pumpkins out of a vast field for jack-o-lanterns or pies. Alder Acres in Langley has 15 acres of pumpkins, but also offers hayrides, a petting zoo and so much more! http://www.aldoracresfamilyfarm.ca

Apples

Gather a bushel of crisp apples to make sumptuous apple pies or fresh, hot apple cider (with a cinnamon stick, of course).Taves Family Farm in Abbotsford is the perfect place to take the family to pick apples. http://www.tavesfamilyfarms.com/

There are so many wonderful farms where you can take the kids and let them pick their own.

Berries

Krause Family Farms in Langley provides fields of fresh berries like fall raspberries, everbearing strawberries and blackberries as well as fresh corn to pick yourself, or if you are lazy like me…they sell fabulous fresh berry pies and awesome fudge (among many other things)  in their family store. http://www.krauseberryfarms.com/

They even sell wine these days. I’m all in for that!

Among all these delicious fresh offerings at Fraser Valley farms are potatoes, a wide variety of squash, and fresh garlic to enhance your very colorful and healthy table.

Oh! We just live in the best place in the world, don’t we?
