Our history dates back to 1975, when Claude and Inge Violet decided to start a ‘New World’ winery in Langley. After selling their winery and vineyard in France, the Violet’s went in search of the perfect climate, terrain, and location for their new winery in BC. In 1981, they found the perfect 55 acre spot in South Langley. After lots of experimenting with different cool climate grape varietals they started planting in 1982. In 1991, the doors to their farm gate winery were opened for business! In 2005, after owning the winery for 14 years, the Violet’s decided to retire. As a result, the estate was purchased by Anthony Cheng and Eugene Kwan who are the current owners. Both Anthony and Eugene are connoisseurs of fine wine.
Today, we have a 48-acres planted with vitisvinifera grapes, and produce over 50,000 cases of wine a year. Our wines have won countless awards throughout the years! Our most recent awards, we owe to our current wine maker, Andrea Lee and her team! Through all four seasons, hard work is put into the harvesting, crushing, pruning, and wine making!
Thinking about trying our wine? Our wine shop is open 7 days a week, year round. We offer a selection of wine tastings of our cool-climate white wines from grapes grown right on the estate to big, fruity reds from grapes grown in the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys. We have something for everyone! Complimentary public tours are also offer daily at 1PM and 3PM (weather permitting). Or book a private tour and tasting for groups of 8 or more. If you’re feeling hungry, enjoy a wonderful French-inspired meal from our Bacchus Bistro while overlooking the vineyard. With his West Coast flair, Chef Ashley Chisham uses local ingredients to create amazing seasonal dishes. For this reason, the Vancouver Sun rated the Bacchus Bistro one of the top 3 ‘al Fresco’ dining restaurants in the Lower Mainland! Experience the astounding lunch menu Wednesday through to Sunday from 11:30AM-3:00PM and dinner Thursday through to Saturday from 5:30PM-9:00PM. Reservations are always recommended!
